Trish & Phill's Tandem TransAmerican

Tour 2003

 Home Up

June 19 Tribune - Eads 62mi

The land we are see today is very flat and is growing wheat. There are grain silo's in Towns along the way that receive the crops, they can be seen for many miles away. To us it is a welcome sign as there is often a coffee shop in the little town were the silo is.

The ride was nice and easy today and we got into camp in good time. We are actually staying at a County Fair Ground tonight. The ground has a large building and we all will sleep in there tonight. It is our turn to cook tonight, Trish wants to take advantage of the large kitchen and cook a nice meal. From the complements of the guys she succeeded, we even had Bacon and French Toast for breakfast.

I noticed the front wheel had a slight wobble about it this afternoon, It was actually a fault with the tyre. The tyre was starting to come off the wire rim, I changed it out for the spare I was carrying. This trip has been heavy on tyres.

One of the guys, Marty has bought a set of dominos and we have been played these of an evening - poor man has not won a game yet, but he doesn't know that Phill is cheating him.

Overnight there was a lot of thundered and lightning. Not much rain though. We heard latter that there was a serious hail storm with huge lumps of ice falling in the next town to us.
