June 21 Ordway - PuebloWe decided last night that we could not risk any more spokes going apart from having a temporary spoke on the wheel already we would be in dire straits if we had another one go on us so we decided to get a lift to Pueblo the next town (City I should say 100,000 population a bit different from the 22- 500 population we have been experiencing.) We mentioned to the girl who was working at the cafe in Sugar City last night that we had been having problems and said she knew someone who could give us a ride into Pueblo. Bill (our driver) came to collect us around 8.30 in his pick up truck he was a real cowboy, he wore all the gear he spoke like John Wayne and the only thing that was missing was his holsters and guns. Bill was a genuine gentleman and we were more than grateful for his help, he dropped us right outside the bike shop. If you read this Bill thanks again. Not quite sure why a guy would want to wear a long leather coat and hat when the temperature is around 90'F though?
On leaving the bike shop we have the original 40 spoke wheel and a new tyre fitted and of course no disc brake that was the sacrifice we had to make when we went back to the original wheel, it was either mend a broken spoke daily or forgo the disc brake we have used it quite a bit but hopefully the decent from now on are much longer than steep so fingers x we should be okay. Tonight we are staying in a dormitory at the State Fair ground, there is a Steer roping competition on in the arena and we spend some time watching the event. There were some very talented men and women both riding horses and lassoing the cattle. At the start of the show the PA voice asked all to stand for the National Anthem - but we don't have a tape so we will pretend. A voice seconds latter came in and sang the Anthem, not too bad a voice either at the end the cowboys gave him a big Yahoo!!!
