Jun 10 Pittsburg – Chanute 68 milesWe set off this morning after eating breakfast in the motel. The motels here often provide a simple breakfast for their patrons. It’s a good idea. The sky threatened rain and we expected the worse but we only had a dozen drops of rain on us all day. We stopped off at this old bridge for lunch , it had more patches in it than a patchwork quilt. Pretty all the same with a family of turtles lined up on the log. The land use is now more pasture land. The grass is still long and green but more frequently there are crops growing. The trees are not down to the road as we have seen in the other States. The European idea of hedgerows seem to be used frequently. The bike was going really well no surprises so far, the only surprise we got was there were more hills for some reason we thought we had seen the last of them but no way we climbed quite a few feet today. We arrived into camp around 6pm, no showers again and toilets close at 6pm not happy after a long day on the bike the first thing you look forward to is a long hot shower, not on this trip.
