Trish & Phill's Tandem TransAmerican

Tour 2003

 Home Up

May 23 Berea

Today the group were arriving from Pippa Passes we are so looking forward to seeing them, we have missed them heaps.

We took another ride around the town yet again did some last minute shopping and sorting out of the bags.

The group arrive around 3.30pm and by the time we had settled them in and chatted to them none stop about what they got up to in the last few days it was time for tea so we all went out for a Buffet meal all you can eat for $7.99 excellent value and it is a change from cooking on the old little gas burners we have, we are always excited when we go out for a meal because it means if you are the cook for that night you don't have to do it and that is a good thing.

What happens is there are 10 people who are split into pairs each couple then take turns every 5 days to prepare dinner and breakfast and also sets out all the next days lunch for everyone, which means you not only cook but you also go buy the food from the closest grocery store (on your bike) and you also take care of all the dishes, thats the bad part the good part is when it is not your turn you dont have to even think about it for another 5 days. Having said that we wont be having Garlic Bread tonight.

It is amazing what you can do when you are in short supply of things to cook with, we have had really great meals and to think I thought I was going to lose weight on this trip (no way) if we continue to get fed so well, mind you we are all burning off the calories like no tomorrow.
