 Home Up

May 25 Berea - Chimney Rock Resort 45 miles

Thank goodness to be out of there ! Back on the road , great to be rolling the legs again

Chimney Rock Resort is an RV / Camping site on Lake Harrington. Lake Harrington was formed some years ago when the government built a large Hydro Dam and Power Station and flooded a huge valley. The result is about 30 miles of recreation waterways.

The line up of boats at the various marinas along the lake tells a different story to the wealth that was noticeably missing in Eastern Kentucky. There are crafts of all sized and shapes and I wonder if some of them were ever able to open the throttle up fully. An example was one boat that had two 225HP outboard engines hanging off the back ?

Lady Luck was good to us tonight, the campsite was having a roast pig dinner, followed by a Karaoke. We were invited along to join In with them. I know I am in danger of becoming boring when I say this again but the people are so friendly they made us so welcome and joined us in to their group like they had known us a life time. The meal was superb and we got seconds, even a sweet all for $5 WOW.

Friends we made at the RV Park

A guy who seemed to have the mic a lot of the time during the Karaoke was a real characters. He latched on to the fact that these good people of Kentucky had oversees visitors and played on it. Before I knew it I was Crocodile Phill and invited up on to the stage to sing with him.

I was amazed that Phill went up with he guy so easily but to save more embarrassment he just went up like lamb to the slaughter, having said that so did Mike who vowed he would never ever go on stage and do Karaoke was also dragged up, myself Lara and Brian where the next to go up but we were not dragged up like the other 2 thanks to Lara who had never done Karaoke before was getting into the swing of things decided she would put our names forward to sing Country Road which incidentally was the only song I knew and then not all the words.

A great night had by all, thanks to Kathy & Harold for their kind hospitality. Chimneyrockrvpark.com
