Trish & Phill's Tandem TransAmerican

Tour 2003

 Home Up

Jul 13 Lolo - Powell 45mi

We left at 5am this morning, we had a huge hill to climb and were not sure how long it would take us to climb.  As it happened it was not as bad as we thought and we didn't even get off the bike to walk which amazed me because that told me I am getting stronger or the mountain was not very big , in fact the mountain was big 2,000feet we had to climb so I felt quite good about my self today.

We only did about 45mi and we could have gone further but there where no facilities or services for the next 66 miles, even though I could have done another 30 or so I could not see my self doing 110 again by choice, so we decided to get a cabin for the night.

We stopped at Lolo Pass just before Lowell and it was also goodbye Montana and Welcome Idaho 8 down 2 to go.

Phill and I feel really tired even though we had a layover yesterday I think the 10 weeks cycling nearly everyday is catching up with us.  We are hoping to finish the trip early and then have some R&R before we get the flight home.

We stayed in a really neat log cabin $38 -no power outlets or TV here I was half expecting a bear to be knocking on the door visiting us because there is a lot of wilderness here.
