 Home Up

Jun 30 Riverside - Rawlins 65mi

No sooner had we set off this morning we saw a large deer standing in the road in front of us, we saw many deer after that. They are very skittish but if you move slowly they don't run off. We did notice however that the moment they hear the zip on the camera case they take off must be an instinct that they have to avoid the hunters opening their gun cases.

We left around 6:00 AM to beat the wind and heat of the day, the day time temperature are getting up around 90'F now.

We stopped off at Saratoga for breakfast. They have hot springs there for the public to use 24 hours/day but we did not use them. I think we would have been a mess if we had tried to ride after sitting in hot water for any length of time.

It was a really nice ride out for the first 40 odd miles but the next 25 were along the Interstate Highway to get us into Rawlings. Huge trucks whizzed passed us and a head wind stood us stationery almost. it was a fairly hard ride.

Rawlings is a medium sized town and we rode up to the library to do our E-mail things at one end of town then off to the post office to send stuff home for the family the other end.  We went to the grocery store and there must have been a traffic accident, there was 6 police cars in attendance so I guess it must have been serious.

We also was a wrecked Caravan on  the Highway it was just about turned into matchsticks.

We stayed in a motel tonight and the reception did our laundry and would not even charge us for it. Good service eh?
